The Dr. Brittany Toole Math and Science Scholarship
The Dr. Brittany Toole Math and Science Scholarship is awarded annually through Francis Marion University’s Educational Foundation. Its recipients are underrepresented minorities from South Carolina majoring in a math or science with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The first awards were granted Spring 2018.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I was forced to move out at 17 years old. I moved in with my brother, his girlfriend and their daughter (my beautiful niece) who was one year old. Having made excellent grades, I was accepted into many universities but was unable to attend due to my challenging situation. I had no contact with either parent; therefore, I couldn’t complete the FASFA. Francis Marion University accepted me and made extra provisions for me to attend. As a proud alum, I am happy to team up with Francis Marion University to carry out one of my dreams!

In March 2019, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the 2018-2019 recipients of the Dr. Brittany Toole Math and Science Scholarship. Each young lady epitomized excellence, superb character and relentless perseverance. We celebrated, enjoyed light snacks and conversed about their future goals. It was a momentous occasion that I will never forget!

Infinitely Grateful
I started my senior year in high school with many unforeseen challenges but no weapon formed against me prospered! I graduated with honors, and after staying nearly everyday after school to complete scholarships, I enrolled at Francis Marion University with the maximum money allowed towards tuition. But God! I hope to use my story to inspire the masses!
